This territory of singular importance for its flora, fauna, landscape, geological characteristics and socio-economic and cultural values, is closely linked to traditional rural areas.

In the region Requena-Utiel, between the towns of Villargordo del Cabriel, Venta del Moro and Requena, it is the Natural Park of the nature park, one of the most significant natural areas of the Valencia region. This territory of singular importance for its flora, fauna, landscape, geological characteristics and socio-economic and cultural values, is closely linked to traditional rural areas.

The Natural Park of Sickles of Cabriel, with an area of ??31,446 ha, has Cabriel river as the backbone, forming a natural border between the communities of Valencia and Castilla la Mancha. The quality of its waters and low population pressure have made this space a reserve of great ecological value cultural values ??associated with rural areas. It was declared on June 17, 2005.

CULTURAL HERITAGE

In the Park of Sickles we can know rural, agricultural, religious buildings, bridges, dams, wells, corrals, troughs and other ethnological elements related to wine and traditional forms of agricultural and livestock production, which will show us the history and culture of its inhabitants.

FLORA AND FAUNA

The Cabriel river has dug its bed in the limestone creating a winding road in the valley and on the ridges sharp needles. The riparian forest spaces are undoubtedly the most valuable of Valencia, with poplars and willows Tamarits, and species associated with these reeds, canes and reeds that are natural shelter for a variety of birds. Outside the riverside area, the forest is the typical Mediterranean aromatic plants: junipers, junipers, pines, gorse among others.

Among the fauna raptors are the most important colony of the Community, eagles, owls and other species such as otters, ribbed newts, sapillos pintojos, lepers turtles, pink geckos, weasels and ibex.

ITINERARIES

The Natural Park has a network of routes that leave from the main towns that integrate and bring to the Cabriel River where you can cycle through the different environments of this territory. In addition, throughout the park there are different approved trails PR and GR, which offer the possibility of hiking.

INTERPRETATION CENTER

The Interpretation Centre has an exhibition in which the Cabriel River is the main character of this unique ecosystem. In you can discover the different environments that make up this protected natural area, its flora and fauna, geology and know the important heritage of water found in the park.
