HISTORY

The Teatro Principal de Requena was designed by Valencian architect Joaquín Rieta in 1945 on the site of the old Circus Theatre which was built in 1903 by the Conde de Villamar . It was completely restored in 1995 under the direction of Leopoldo Piles.

In the main, sober, austere rationalist style facade they appreciate and differentiate between two different volumes of spaces and elements and structure inside. It has a capacity of 1,497 spectators, being, among conventional theaters, the largest capacity of Valencia and one of the largest in Spain.

This is the most important cultural container, the city and its activity includes theater, film, opera, dance, music programming with more than 150 events annually.
